How He Loves: Impact 360

Here is a blog from one of our Zona Camp Students Alyssa Peters about her Summer 2011 Propel My Life experience. Enjoy and share!

How He Loves: Impact 360: I have to admit, it's been a tough year and this week I'm not sure what direction I have been going in. I've been sick for going on three we...

That's a wrap!

We just finished our 4th and final session of Propel My Life at WinShape Camps! It has been amazing to teach girls about a Biblical worldview and leadership. We had a blast, and the girls did too - check out some quotes from this session's class, below.

"I loved this [Propel My Life] skill, because it made me really stop and think about my dash. God has taught me through this skill that I, one person, can start to change the world." - Grace

"Propel My Life was so much fun! I learned so much about skills I need to lead others and impact lives! I loved it! And my instructors made it so simple to comprehend, it was great!" - Lindsay

"This skill has taught me so much about God, the people around me, and even myself that I didn't know. It was also fun to listen to the instructors' stories about IMPACT 360." - Abi

Zona Camp

Plain and simple, Jesus Christ is the author and perfecter of our faith. Every day this week I see God working in the lives of the youth and Zona. In fact, watching the students in Propel completely blows me away, I am constantly being reminded of God's faithfulness. I know God has great plans for each and every one of the students. I can see it in the way they respond to His Word and through the passion they have for learning to be imitators of their Savior. Truly, it has been no easy task to face some of the difficult issues of identity and integrity that they have thus far. However, they have been teachable and responsive beyond belief. Today I had the opportunity to talk with a small group of students more personally about my own vision for their participation in Propel. I know that the faithfulness of the Biblical men and women of old led to great things in the name of Jesus and the same will be true for these students. Their hearts' are in the right place. Consequently, they respectfully giggled when I became so overcome by joy and anticipation that I started getting teary-eyed. Therefore, I consider my time with these students and my fellow teachers to have been crucial a tremendous blessing and even though this program is meant to impact the students it has done the same in my life as well.

Our Identity comes from Christ

Brittany Dempsey sharing the risk of allowing others to define who we are. Propel 201 focuses on Identity, Integrity, Intimacy. Today is all about Identity. As Christians, our identity comes from Jesus Christ.

ZONA!!!!! Second Day is complete...

Breaking in a new team, and a new curriculum is not always an easy task, but by God's Grace our team at Zona has functioned as a unified body since we met in Scottsdale for training. Even as Impact had already branded it into our bodies and brains, we are still diligently practicing the art of flexibility. Whether it be waiting for late buses or just thinking things up on the fly, God has equipped us (Impact especially is to be thanked with this) to be patience, adapt, and to remember that everything is in His timing.

Zona is ministering to about 900 students this week. Arizona is still a largely un-churched state. To think that we have the chance to freely proclaim the Love of Christ with students who can go back to their homes and share that….What and incredible act of God that is!!! Propel has the blessing and honor to share Truth with about 80 young men and women this week. We have four days to use God's words to stir something in their hearts.

Something that has been become very apparent to me, is that these 900 students-They all need Jesus. They all have a different story, different struggles, and many of them need Jesus more than they even realize. Even so, it is such a blessing; to allow God to use our bodies to pour into students in a classroom knowing that the leaders in that class can take what they learn and tell it to others. To teach them about worldview, and leadership, servant hood, and to show them what it looks like to model Christ-That is Propel! It is incredible how much God can work in high school students.

Today in class, while going over the Vision portion, some of the students shared their dreams and goals. I was blown away to hear things like, doctor, motivational speaker, soldier, welder, counselor, double major, RN…..the list goes on. These are the youth of the nation! I never had goals that big in high school. This is exactly what evokes passion in me for these teens-They can change the WORLD for Christ. They can choose the right path, and influence people to choose God. They are our fellow ambassadors, and I believe that God will do mighty works through them.

Continue to pray that we will use the words of an Omniscient Father, and not our own. Pray for the hearts of the students that they would remember the Gospel, and pray for us to open our eyes to see what God wants us to see in these young men and women.

Zona Camp

West Coast Team just completed our first day of Zona Camp!

We've got Propel My Life 101 with 70+ students, 17 of which are youth leaders coming from training that they will implement in their youth groups! Our IMPACT 360 alumni teaching in 101 are Bekah Hagan, Danae Pratt, and Torey Mayfield. It's been awesome watching them unite to accomplish the task set before us.

We've also got Propel My Life 201 where 22 students who previously completed the 101-15 hour experience are diving in deeper in the areas of knowing their Identity in Christ, being Intimate with God, and living a life of Integrity! Seeing familiar faces has been refreshing after weeks and weeks of new students. To our delight we had a successful time of review today and introduced some compelling ideas about "self-leadership" - leading in the way that we develop the unseen aspects of our character. The IMPACT 360 alumni teaching in the 201 class are myself, Hannah Angel, and Brittany Dempsay. I've loved getting to watch Hannah and Brittany teach boldly thus far!

Continue to pray for us as we invest in these awesome students. Pray for us to walk by the Spirit and boldly proclaim the Gospel!

Thanks for your investment in me, my team, and these students. Peace.

PROPEL MY LIFE East Coast Team Kicks Off At Camp Chaparral In TX

Today PROPEL MY LIFE East Coast Team will be introduced to our students at Camp Chaparral Baptist Assembly in Wichita Falls, TX. After wrapping up our two sessions at Student Life in Tennessee we were able to get some needed rest but are now pumped up and excited to see what students God brings our way. Our reception from the staff has been Christ-like in hospitality and we can't wait to continue to get to know them all. Please continue to pray for us that we can be effective administrators of God's Truth about the world we live in, bringing a clear vision of His creation to students who are surrounded by blurry images of our world. Lets get this thing started again in Texas with PROPEL MY LIFE!

Getting Students at Student Life 2011 at Lee University pumped about Propel/IMPACT 360

East Coast Team- First Week

We have just finished our first week of PROPEL!

Much of this week was not what we had expected, but it has been fulfilling, and we have seen God work.  On June 29th, we had the privilege of teaching a one hour leadership/worldview session to around twenty highschoolers at a Student Life camp in Cleveland, Tennessee.  Student Life allowed us to set up an IMPACT 360 booth in their main worship center, as well as announce our class and throw out some cows from the stage that morning.  The camp directors were a pleasure to work with, and they exemplified the qualities of servant leadership that we are teaching this summer.

We had planned to spend the next couple of days at another Student Life camp in Louisiana, but ran into some scheduling difficulties, and ended up turning around, and heading back to Cleaveland to teach for their second Student Life session.  The directors graciously welcomed us back for the second time, and once again, allowed us to set up a booth, teach, and explain PROPEL from the stage.  Around twenty students showed up for this session as well, and there was lots of interest expressed from the students about IMPACT 360.  It was a joy to teach these students.

After teaching yesterday, we began our trip to Wichita Falls, TX.  When we arrive at camp Chaparral, we will have a day to regroup, and catch up on some rest, before we begin camp out there.

Even through the changing plans, God has provided for us.  We have had the privilege of seeing Him work through camp staff, students, and our teaching.  It was a joy to participate in the fast pace of the Student Life camps, and although we didn't have much time to get to know students, we were able to see their hearts for their Father.  We are confident that God has greater things in store for our team, as we continue to serve Him this summer.  Thank you all so much for your prayers!

WHAT WINSHAPE CAMPS CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF!

Hello from WinShape Camps! Below is a picture of our first commissioned class.
We had amazing time getting to know them and teaching them.

Last week we took our session 2 crew to the graveyard for Dash Management. It was great.

Then we played the tarp game. They had a blast (as evidenced by the photo) and learned a little bit in the process.

Commissioning is tomorrow. We are praying that the truths we have taught these 16 girls sticks with them and they find ways to apply them back in their communities. Please be in prayer for our team as we prepare to send them out, and reset for session 3.

FUGE Camps Week 3

Hey!

Thanks to those of you who have been keeping up w/ the blog updates from time to time. Knowing that you're talking to God on our behalf means so much to Bekah, Hannah, and I. Students have been arriving since 1 today and we'll have about 1200 or so this week. Please pray for our health physically, mentally, emotionally, and especially spiritually. When I have the # of PML students I will be sure to post an update. Also, pray for some special students that will be attending our Track-Time this week, Student Leader Apprentices. These are students who have signed up to spend 2 weeks w/ FUGE Camps shadowing staffers. We're looking forward to the added layer of intentionally influencing that comes w/ having these students in our TT. Pray for them! Thanks again for everything!

Whoo Hoooo! First week!

After 18 days of training we just completed our first week of camp. I don't think I can accurately explain how hard we just worked... but I also don't think I could adequately express how worth it it all was. I think I can speak for all of us in saying that. We're blessed to have seen a lot of fruit and I'm confident there will be more fruit we won't personally get to observe. Pray for the students as they go back to life outside of camp-- pray they remember what they learned and what the Lord has done. Pray for boldness. If you all could pray for us we need rest. And we need strength to push through next week even harder than we did this past week so we can continue to do better. Pray above all that we remember 1) our good work has already been planned by the Lord 2) He will enable us to do it and 3) that it is all for His glory. Love you guys! Looking forward to telling you more good news!

First Day of Propel My Life at WinShape!

Our first day of Propel my Life went really well! The brand new Hub facility has created a neat learning atmosphere.
Chelsea did an awesome job engaging the girls in some fun illustrations, and the girls seemed to connect with the material.
Our goal for the first day was to excite the girls for a new way of viewing their life and the lives of others around them. Hopefully, they
learned a brand new spin on how they choose to impact their peers and living every day with a purpose.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support! The emails have been encouraging. Please continue to pray that truth will be proclaimed
effectively and girls' hearts will be transformed by the Word of God. We are so excited to see what God has in store for
these girls in Session 1!

Thanks again!

First Day of FUGE Camp!

Alright! Our team has been training since May 17th and our first day of camp is finally here! I'm currently working the sound / powerpoint for the Centrifuge Track Time Show and loving it! Our fellow FUGE staffer Allison is doing an awesome job encouraging these students to check out the 2 Day Propel My Life track time. Bekah, Hannah, and I will be teaching students about rooting their IDENTITY in Jesus Christ and living their daily lives with INTEGRITY that influences their peers for His sake.

Thank you for your prayers and constant support. Continue to call, text, and email encouragements our way as you're led. I'll post again soon. Thanks!

Good Morning, All You WinShape Girls!

Hello from Rome, Georgia and welcome to WinShape Camps for Girls (WSCG)!

This is the first year that PROPEL MY LIFE will be offered at WinShape Camps, a two-week residential camp for rising 2-12th grade girls. During these two weeks, campers participate in a variety of activities like: Archery, Rock-Climbing, Potter, Horseback Riding, and now PROPEL MY LIFE. This summer, high school girls will spend 2 hours every other day learning about biblical worldview and  servant leadership.

Although campers have yet to arrive on the Mountain Campus of Berry College, we have been hard at work preparing lesson plans, experiential learning opportunities, and our class room in the newest addition to WinShape Camps for Girls: The HUB! Yesterday, we were able to meet with Mary Michael Joiner, Student-Learning Coordinator at IMPACT 360 and a WinShape counselor for 3 years. Last summer she worked with PROPEL on the west coast, so she is more than qualified to assist us in our planning and preparation for teaching. We are thrilled to have her on board this summer as a guide and mentor.
Emily Rettig and I will be co-facilitating the PROPEL skill at WinShape as well as having responsibilities in our tribes. Emily will be working with the Cherokee tribe (rising 9-10th grade) and I will be working with the Catawba tribe (rising 11-12th), needless to say this will be a very full summer for both of us.

PRAYER, is what we ask of you.
1. Prayer for our confidence as we present life-changing truths to girls in and out of the PROPEL classroom.
2. Prayer for our campers, that the Lord will prepare their hearts to receive knowledge as well as be propelled to action.

Thank you for your prayer and support!

Propel My Life's Third Year - Introduced Second Track

PROPEL MY LIFE, a leadership track designed and presented by IMPACT 360, enters its third summer of introducing high-school students at camps around the country to the key concepts around which the IMPACT 360 experience revolves. This summer, new camp partners will offer PROPEL MY LIFE, and for the first time students who have been through PROPEL MY LIFE can take a next step with a new track, PROPEL 201.

At camps where PROPEL MY LIFE is offered, youth ministers choose students from within their groups that exhibit exceptional leadership traits and potential to participate. These students enter the special PROPEL MY LIFE track to learn principles of worldview, servant leadership and more.

And this summer, for the first time, students who had a thought-provoking and life-changing experience in PROPEL MY LIFE have a chance to take the next step with PROPEL 201. Students in PROPEL 201 will explore the importance of self-leadership through the ideas of Christian identity, intimacy with God, and integrity in leadership.

Both PROPEL MY LIFE and PROPEL 201 are led by IMPACT 360 graduates, who have learned about and practiced the concepts taught in this track during their nine months in IMPACT 360. These leaders are both teachers and guides, helping students both discover and experience the concepts in the track in a deep and memorable way.

“The consistent, growing, and grounded students that lead in our ministries rarely have the need to go deep because of the needs of the masses,” said Mitch McDonald, evangelism facilitator for the Arizona Southern Baptist Convention and Zona Yuth Camp, a returning PROPEL partner. “Thus we have unleashed far too many students that are a mile wide and only an inch deep in their spiritual discernment. These student leaders can now be introduced to concepts in the Propel pathway that they are most likely not going to hear in their local church setting. Propel brings a degree of expertise that we simply could not offer without them.”

IMPACT 360 is a nine-month program that challenges high school graduates to know what they believe and why they believe it, to understand God’s calling, and to develop and foster authentic Christian community. Since 2006, Impact 360 has produced more than 100 graduates who are motivated to not only affect their college campuses with Biblical truth but also to use their godly example to impact the rest of the world.
